Postmoderism Modernism

In the video, "The Obsolete Man" by Rod Serling, the main character, the Chancellor obviously displays a case of modernism in the beginning. The Chancellor thought that everything about the "state" was right, everything the "state" said and did was right. Anytime Wordsworth try to talk of anything the "state" did not believe in, as in books or religion, the Chancellor would come back with "the state has proved that wrong". The Chancellor may have had to background or reason as to why the "state" believed there was no religion or books, but he knew it was right. The state's claim was everyone in their community had to have a purpose, and since there was no books there was no need for a librarian. This is clearly shows modernsim. As the video comes to a conclusion, the Chancellor comes to reality that everything the "state" is about, may not be right. After saying "In God's name let me out", this shows his postmodernism side. He showed his free will to believe what he wants. This is post modernism. He shows that deep down inside he didn't believe what the state was about.

DB

Whats going on guys? My name is Darren Bailey. I'm from Anderson, South Carolina, right down the road. I'm a "first" year senior in Electrical Engineering. I'm also a student athletic trainer on our Clemson Tiger football team. This is my fourth year with the team. Also, I'm a co-op at Milliken & Co in Toccoa, Georgia. My hobbies are baseball, football, basketball, and music. I would love to be a football coach at some point in my life. I know the whole Electrical Engineering degree doesn't go with usually go with coaching football, but I'm the type of person that if you tell me it can't be done, I'll get it done! My favorite sports teams are the Atlanta Braves, Carolina Panthers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. My favorite type of music is without a doubt rock music. My favorite bands include Shinedown, Candlebox, Trapt, 3 Doors Down, 12 Stones, Breaking Benjamin, Skillet, U2, Needtobreathe, Staind, Pearl Jam, and the Foo Fighters, just to name a few. I love going to concerts. During the spring and summer semsters when I'm not so busy with football, I try to attend every concert from Charlotte to Atlanta. This summer I got to see Shinedown twice, 12 Stones, Skillet, Breaking Benjamin, Daughtry, and Needtobreathe. If any of you like these bands, please feel free to write me a comment. I love to talk music.
